About
The origins of the village date back to the 9th century, when a monastery was founded under the direction of a Benedictine monk named Arremar.
The Assomption church and the former monastery, both listed buildings, remain from the past, as do two former watermills.
Located near Mesnil-Saint-Père, the village is surrounded by two hamlets: le Ménilot and la Métairie. It is characterized by its proximity to the lake of the Forêt d'Orient, and by a variety of trails offering superb views, with many typical orchards consisting mainly of apple trees and a few vines.
The commune has a nursery school (the primary school is part of the RPI network with Montreuil-sur-Barse), a day-care center, a canteen and a multi-purpose hall.
