About
The commune's name appears in 1164 as Buxerie,...
...it was Théophile Boutiot, in his topographical dictionary, who first found traces of Buchères in a cartulary of the Saint-Loup abbey, which is said to come from a dialectal form of bois (buc). Buce is a place planted with boxwood or bushes, with no particular plant species.
Today, Buchères still has all the characteristics of a rural commune, but could still be described as semi-urban: even if it retains the charms of a country commune, it is above all a fast-developing commune at the gateway to the Trojan conurbation.
Since January 1, 2011, Buchères has been an integral part of the Trojan conurbation.
Buchères was the scene of a wartime massacre on August 24, 1944.
Numerous new buildings were erected, including 2 housing estates with around 50 dwellings.
There is a wide range of activities and facilities for both children and adults. 25 associations, both recreational and sporting, are active in the commune.
A stadium, a community hall and, more recently, two indoor tennis courts with a clubhouse are available to Buchèrois residents, as are a fitness trail and a children's park.
Some sixty companies are already present in Buchères, even before others move into the logistics park, which covers three municipalities (Buchères, Saint-Léger-près-Troyes and Moussey). The quality of life here is constantly improving, with a 2 Fleurs Nationales label since 2006.
The town offers a wide range of services to its residents: after-school care, leisure center, teen club, municipal library, organization of various events: children's Christmas, garage sales, painting exhibition, July 14th (meal + fireworks), etc.
