About

Installed on Place Langevin in 2024, “Souffle de vie” is a bronze sculpture by the French contemporary artist Valérie Hadida. Created as part of the square’s redevelopment, it was designed to blend into this green urban space.

Inspired in part by Copenhagen’s famous Little Mermaid, the work depicts a seated female figure, recognizable by her long hair blowing in the wind. Through this contemplative silhouette, Valérie Hadida evokes the breath of life, freedom, and openness to the outside world.

Conceived by the artist as a benevolent presence—almost like a “lighthouse” in the square—the sculpture interacts with its surroundings and accompanies passersby in this new space for strolling and relaxation in the heart of Troyes.
