About
Located 13 km south of Troyes, the village was once part of the Duchy of Aumont.
It has had various names over time: Borde then Les Bordes on the Cassini map, Les Bordes-d'Isle in the 19th century and finally Les Bordes-Aumont in 1919. It was formed by the attachment to Les Bordes in 1792 of two other communes: Virloup, a hamlet already mentioned in the 13th century, and Bray, the former maladrerie of Saint-Antoine, mentioned in 1095 in the cartulary of the Abbey of Molesme. For the historical reasons mentioned above, the village has neither church nor cemetery, but owns 50% of the Saint Pierre church and cemetery in Isle-Aumont.
Significant work has been carried out over the past 15 years. Since 2005, the village and its hamlets have benefited from collective sanitation, with 2 treatment plants belonging to the commune (one for the village and one for the hamlet). Work has also been carried out to reduce speeding on the RD 444, which runs through the village, sidewalks have been laid and a sports and leisure area was completed in 2007.
Kindergarten and primary schooling are provided within an inter-communal educational grouping, since a school complex was built in Les Bordes-Aumont in 2014, 40% owned by the commune of Cormost and 60% by Les Bordes-Aumont.
In this way, the commune is resolutely looking to the future, without denying its rural character, which is a magnet for residents from nearby towns, and by promoting quality of life.
