About
The village is located around 15 km northeast of Troyes, and was formerly known as Samblières, then Saint-Sépulcre.
Edouard Colbert gave it its present name in 1673. According to Jacques Laffitte-Houssat, Villacerf is a diminutive of Villare-Celum, meaning small rural estate.
Some of the works of art housed at Château de Villacerf were confiscated during the French Revolution and are now on display at the Musée Saint-Loup in Troyes. The Saint-Jean-Baptiste church in Villacerf is a listed historic monument.
A 3-level nursery school, canteen and day-care center cater for children. 3 tennis courts (2 covered), a playground and a boules pitch are available to residents.
The commune also boasts a post office, a "Melda" restaurant and a number of businesses.
Villacerf is home to a number of associations.
The "vélovoie" (bicycle path) runs through the village, making it a pleasant place to stroll.
