About
A commune of 10.5 km², with a population of 430, the "Subligniens", lies 13.4 km southwest of Troyes. Served by the D72, D94 and N77, it is 13 km from exit 20 - Saint-Thibault on the A5 motorway from Paris.
Adjacent to Bouilly, the commune lies at the foot of Montaigu, the former territory of the Counts of Champagne, where their castle once stood. Destroyed following the Treaty of Troyes in the 15th century, the hill now offers walking trails and panoramic views over the Troyes plain. An exceptional natural heritage and a centuries-old history make this hill a popular destination for walkers. Souligny is part of an intercommunal educational grouping with Bouilly, Javernant and Sommeval.
Barns, farmhouses and timber-framed and brick-built rural buildings are the hallmarks of Souligny's Aube countryside.
