About

The commune was formerly called Montreuil (Monasteriolum Villa) in 1107, due to the existence of a small priory belonging to the abbey of Montier-la-Celle, where Saint Léger took refuge in the 7th century.

In 1163, the name Ecclesia Sanctus Leodegarii appeared, derived from the 7th-century German Leudgari, Léger, bishop of Autun and mayor of the palace.

The village of Saint-Léger-près-Troyes is located on the outskirts of Troyes and 3 km from Bréviandes and Rosières, and is made up of farmland and woods. Our commune remains rural in character, with a steadily increasing population. At the gateway to the A5 freeway, the Aube logistics park occupies 80 ha of our land.

A church built in the late 15th and early 16th centuries was listed as a historic monument in 1980. It is currently undergoing restoration work, which will take many years, but cannot be visited.

And don't forget the rustic farm museum, which invites you to step into the world of the past, thanks to the architecture, farming tools and objects brought together to bring to life the rural life of yesteryear. Visits and conferences are organized, and you'll end with an evening by the log fire, where the owner will share a moment of poetry with you.

Some fifteen sports, social and cultural associations offer a variety of entertainment and organize special events.

The commune has 3 kindergarten and CM1-CM2 classes.
