About

The village of Saint-Jean-de-Bonneval is located 17 km south-west of Troyes.

At the entrance to the village is a 17th-century calvary with an interesting stone base featuring angels, Saint John's ring and four skulls. The stone cross, probably broken long ago, has been replaced by an iron cross.
Its 19th-century church (Saint Jean Baptiste) has its own cachet, and houses an organ and a 19th-century tapestry.

The commune is bisected by the Troyes - Saint Florentin railway line. Opened in October 1891, the line remained in operation until 1996, but has since been discontinued (only the Troyes - Roncenay section remains in use). The last train, an autorail in the colors of the Conseil Régional, passed by on September 1, 1996 at 7:10 pm. A level crossing was becoming dangerous and was removed in 2008.

It has a school (run by a syndicate) and a communal volunteer fire-fighting center, as well as a village hall that can hold 120 people.

Numerous associations bring the village to life on a daily basis, and there are a number of craftsmen and tradesmen in the commune.

The commune of Saint-Jean-de-Bonneval, despite its limited resources, is a dynamic yet tranquil village.
