About

Ruvigny is a rural commune located around ten kilometers southeast of Troyes, 5 minutes from the A26 motorway junction at Thennelières.

Since the middle of the 9th century, it has belonged to the Montier la Celle abbey. The church, dedicated to Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, dates from the 15th and 16th centuries and contains a number of interesting statues dating from the 13th to 17th centuries. On the RD 619 towards Lusigny sur Barse, after the ferme de la Folie, in the middle of a line of trees and undergrowth, you'll find the Fontaine Hérard, with the stone that once supported an iron cross beside it.
Legend has it that one day, an oak tree housing a statue of the Virgin Mary was attacked by a lumberjack who wanted to chop it down. At the first blow of the axe, the tree bled and the blood gave birth to a fountain. The Virgin then left the site for the oak tree in Bar sur Seine, where she continues to be honored under the name of Notre Dame du Chêne. In 800 AD, Ruvigny was renowned for its garlic and shallot crops.

A few 19th-century buildings remain from the former Bernot pottery on the Guillotière site, alongside the RD 619.
In the center of the village, several farmhouses and barns feature interesting timber-framed structures and flat-tiled roofs.
The vélovoie passes through Ruvigny, which is also close to the lakes of the Forêt d'Orient Regional Nature Park.

In terms of facilities, the commune has a playground for children and a play area for adults, including a pétanque court and ping pong table, as well as a multi-purpose hall with a capacity of 100 people.

Inhabitants benefit from school and extracurricular facilities organized as an RPI, with the communes of Montaulin and Rouilly Saint Loup, distributed as follows: Montaulin and Rouilly-Saint-Loup: elementary classes . Ruvigny: nursery classes and after-school care. Children are then enrolled at the collège in Lusigny-sur-Barse.
