About
Rouilly-Saint-Loup is a village in the center of the Aube department, in the heart of Champagne humide, in the Seine valley. Menois and Rouillerot are two hamlets forming part of the commune.
The commune is conveniently located just 9 km southeast of Troyes, the prefecture of the Aube department, and only ten minutes from the city center via the D21. It is served by a regional express train (TER), and the recent completion of the Troyes ring road makes the village easily accessible. What's more, motorway access is just a few kilometers away.
The commune covers 1126 hectares at an average altitude of 115 meters, with a population of 599 (2011 census). This is a rural commune, with no fewer than four farms, including two with livestock. The landscape is therefore marked by fields and pastures, with the addition of small woods and ponds.
The village is also structured by its timber-framed buildings, most of which have recently been restored. Since 2005, the village has benefited from a multi-purpose hall (Salle Saint-Loup) and a new town hall.
The elementary school, with 2 classes, operates as a group with the Montaulin and Ruvigny schools.
As for leisure activities, there's plenty of fishing in the communal and private ponds. Horse lovers will find plenty to do at the equestrian center. For walkers and joggers, the banks of the canal de restitution du réservoir Seine offer pleasant opportunities.
The commune is also fortunate to be located on the "vélovoie des lacs", which attracts many cyclists and inline skaters.
