About
The commune of Moussey is located to the south of the Troyes conurbation, around 10 km from Troyes city center.
The origin of the name, Muccium, can be traced back to 1037, with numerous changes: Muciacum 1097-1104, Mulceium 1099. Gallo-Roman man's name or referring to a mountainous area (mont-iacum). Mulciacus diminutive of Molliciacus, which would derive from Mollicius, a gentilice known from a few inscriptions... In 1874, the spelling "Mougey" was considered more correct.
