About
The commune of Macey is located around 10 km southwest of the city of Troyes.
The village is divided between Macey Bourg and the hamlets of Mesnil Vallon, Grange l'Evêque and Grange aux Rez. Arriving at La Grange aux Rez (RD 960), you'll discover a village set in a green setting surrounded by valleys. From the hamlet of Grange l'Evêque, you'll be drawn to this magnificent balcony overlooking the city of Troyes and the Seine valley. With its two flowers, Macey has been a member of the Villages Fleuris for many years.
A little history: its 12th-century Romanesque church is dedicated to St. Martin. In 1300, the Bishop of Troyes had a vassal in Macey, Guillaume de Barres (Chevalier), whose fief he definitively acquired in 1348 (Commune and Macey woods). In February 1429, Joan of Arc passed through Macey on a pilgrimage.
As you pass by the observatory of the Association Astronomique de l'Aube, you can discover the neighboring vineyards along the way.
