About
Lusigny-sur-Barse lies to the east of Troyes, within the Parc Naturel Régional de la Forêt d'Orient (PNRFO), on a slope of Lac d'Orient.
Great names such as Bernard de Clairvaux, Napoleon and Templar history have left their mark on Lusigny.
The town boasts a typical Champagne heritage of traditional half-timbered houses and fine residences built by notables in the late 19th century. Thanks to controlled urban planning, the presence of green and wooded areas scattered across the territory and the existence of a friendly town center, the inhabitants are happy to live here and show their attachment to the area at various events.
A village spirit that has been skilfully nurtured, where the art of living has been preserved and the town center has been revitalized, and where important and necessary infrastructures coexist, which are also appreciated by neighboring towns: nursery and primary schools, secondary school, leisure and extracurricular center, library, COSEC, medical center, "La salamandre" retirement home, home for disabled adults, post office, waste disposal center, notary.
Farmers, craftsmen, shopkeepers and businesses are also well represented. Butchers, butchers and caterers, bakers and confectioners, grocery stores, supermarkets, florists, hairdressers, women's ready-to-wear boutiques, beauty salons, banks, brasseries, restaurants, bars and tobacconists, motorcycle schools, cabs - there's a whole range of businesses to meet the needs of Lusigniens.
Numerous intergenerational activities are regularly organized with schools and associations. The presence of volunteers in some twenty associations is significant, offering Lusigniens the opportunity to take part in leisure, sports or cultural activities. Noteworthy events in Lusigny include the Triathlon des Lacs on the Lusigny beach (1st weekend in June), the Foire Agricole et Commerciale in the town (1st Sunday in October), and the Forum des Associations at La Grange (1st fortnight in September).
Situated on the Vélovoie route from Troyes to the lakes, the beach was awarded the Pavillon Bleu label in 2016, and is partly shaded and equipped with a picnic area for a friendly welcome. Many walkers, fishermen and tourists also come to relax along the canal where the Barse flows, and to admire Klaus Rinke's arched sculpture that spans the Lac d'Orient spillway canal in the heart of the village.
