GOOD TO KNOW :

- Why "Le Marcel à Vélo"?
By taking the name of "Le Marcel à Vélo", the self-service bicycle rental service of Troyes Champagne Métropole pays tribute to the greatest cyclist of the Aube: Marcel Bidot (1902-1995). A former member of the Union Vélocipédiste de l'Aube, he won two stages of the Tour de France, finishing 5th in 1930, and numerous competitions such as the 1929 French championship. It was above all as technical director of the French team for ten years that this strict, severe but fair man, with integrity and devotion to his riders, enjoyed his greatest successes, notably helping Louison Bobet (1953, 1954, 1955), Jacques Anquetil (1957) and Roger Pingeon (1967) triumph in the Grande Boucle. Locally, he was also the organiser of the Paris-Troyes race. He died in Saint-Lyé, on the territory of Troyes Champagne Métropole, and his name remains inseparable from the finest hours of French cycling.
