About
Converse was founded in 1908. Originally, the company specialized in manufacturing rubber clogs.
Very quickly, this rubber was incorporated into their sneakers. In 1920, Converse renamed its canvas basketball sneaker the “All Star.” The name stuck. Its original purpose, however, evolved. Originally designed to help players score baskets, you saw something extra in them… and started wearing them for all kinds of occasions. Playing music, painting, cruising the streets on a skateboard, or just hanging out. You turned them into a fashion accessory. You wore them to work. You customized them to match your style. You went through it all with them, and put them through the wringer. You sensed the infinite potential of our sneakers.
Today, that spirit lives on in their All Star, Con, and Jack Purcell models and apparel. Their life begins the moment you slip them on, no matter what you decide to do. You’re the one who gives them meaning. You’re the one who charts their destiny. They become the standard-bearer of your individuality and your freedom of expression. They’re part of you. They’re Made by you.
