Here, ask for Angela

The city of Troyes is committed to the fight against street harassment with the introduction of the Angela scheme.

Here (Troyes La Champagne Tourisme) ask for Angela

What is Angela?

Street harassment includes behaviour in the public space aimed at addressing people in an intimidating, insistent, disrespectful, humiliating or threatening manner, because of their sex, gender or sexual orientation.

He (she) initiates the conversation, follows you without your permission, insists on obtaining your telephone number, insults you, threatens you, etc. Many women (but also men) have unfortunately experienced or are at risk of experiencing harassment of this kind.

To help you, the Angela scheme has been set up in Troyes.

The “Ask Angela” scheme is a safe and supportive network of places (bars, hotels, shops, establishments open to the public, including municipal establishments, etc.) designed to help and support anyone who finds themselves in a situation of harassment.

How does Angela work?

A network of people who have been made aware of the issue to provide you with sympathetic assistance:

  1. Enter the establishment identified by a sticker on the front and “ask for Angela”.
  2. You can take refuge for as long as you need, in a friendly manner, without judgement or discriminatory remarks.
  3. You will remain safe until you are out of danger and you can call someone you trust / the police if necessary.
