Summary of the previous episode:
The previous episode was about four iconic masterpieces from the “Cité du Vitrail”, old and contemporary, abstract and figurative.

And to end this serie, here are ten good reasons to come (or return) to the “Cité du Vitrail” in Troyes. You will probably find other good reasons!

The “Cité du Vitrail” is unique in France

With 700 m2 of permanent exhibition space and 400 m2 of temporary exhibition space, it has no equivalent anywhere else. It covers ten centuries of the history of stained glass, and features dozens of objects associated with the art.

The collections are constantly being renewed

Many of the works are on loan to the “Cité du Vitrail”, and are therefore subject to replacement. Add to this the temporary exhibitions, and your next visit won’t be the same as your last.

Visits are open to all

The “Cité du Vitrail” is not just for experts and scholars. The scenography is deliberately uncluttered, both to simplify the reading of the works and to make them accessible to as many people as possible.

Families and children are welcome

There are many fun and educational games and exercises to discover along the visit for the youngest visitors interested in the subject. There are also guided tours for toddlers.

Foreign visitors and people with disabilities are also catered for

Commentary is available in French, English, German and Dutch. Visitors with physical, visual or hearing disabilities can take advantage of a whole range of services.

Many tools are available to help visitors understand the works of art

The “Cité du Vitrail” offers an immersive film, videos, touch screens, an interactive map of the Stained Glass Route, and a multimedia resource and documentation centre.

The “Cité du Vitrail” is also a place where events are organised

Conferences, glass workshops, guided tours and theme days are organised. It is also a study centre for researchers and professionals.

You can take a souvenir home with you

The bookshop-boutique offers a whole range of related items and a selection of books, with a special offer for families. There is also a selection of local products, including a champagne 100% from the Aube department.

The “Cité du Vitrail” has attractive prices

Admission is €4 for adults over 25, and €5 during temporary exhibitions. Many visitors benefit from free admission, which is extended to everyone on the 1st Sunday of each month.

The “Cité du Vitrail” is a gateway to Troyes’ heritage

Troyes is a city of great historical, artistic and cultural heritage. Combining image and technology, the “Cité du Vitrail” is the ideal bridge between the Museum of Modern Art (image) and the “Maison de l’Outil et de la Pensée ouvrière” (technology).
