About

Situated 18 km from Troyes on the Route des Lacs, the village of Les Maupas hugs the edge of the Aumont forest, stretching for over 4 km.

In the past, it was made up of Petit Maupas and Grand Maupas, which have now been merged.

While strolling along the forest paths, it's not uncommon to come across wild boar, hinds and roe deer. The forest welcomes many walkers who take full advantage of the richness offered by this environment. Under its autumn mantle, the forest is bathed in beautiful colors of red, orange, yellow and green. As you stroll through the village, which borders the départementale n°1, you'll come across an old wash-house, around which a pond is home to water lilies and herons waiting for solitude so they can fish.

In the center of the village stands a fine stone building dating from the 1880s. A cast-iron bell set the pace for schoolchildren. In the 1960s, the school closed for lack of numbers. The building was then converted into communal accommodation, a council chamber and a town hall secretariat.

Thanks to various subsidies, the town's heritage has been preserved.

An intercommunal facility in Jeugny, 4 km away, caters for nursery and primary school children. Secondary school pupils attend the collège in Bouilly.

The commune has a multi-purpose hall.

There's also a restaurant, La Ferme du Grand Maupas, and an Espace Couture.
