From that time onwards, .... was renowned for its vegetable crops and orchards. It was during this same period that the present-day church was built, with its south portal, "the market gardeners' portal", donated by the town's inhabitants. It wasn't until 1919 that Saint-André was renamed Saint-André-les Vergers.
After the Second World War, the town experienced a new boom with the arrival of Petitjean (1950) and Carrefour (1975). On the economic front, more than 300 companies are currently listed on the territory.
The town boasts top-quality cultural, sports and social facilities, including the "Complexe sportif Bianchi", the "Bibliothèque Municipale", which houses over 25,000 books, and the "Espace Gérard Philipe", an auditorium with a capacity of almost 300 people.
Today, Saint-André-les-Vergers continues to expand, preserving its rural charm with its many half-timbered houses and protected green areas, including the "Ile Germaine" woods, the "Canal de la Fontaine Saint Martin" and the "Bassin des Roises".
