About
The village of Crésantignes is the cradle of Mogne, located on the RN 77 towards Auxerre, 20 km from Troyes.
It is crossed by the RN 77, Le Cheminot, which owes its name to the fact that the first stage of a walker coming from Troyes was located at this distance.
Not so long ago, it was customary for the municipality to provide food and lodging for railway workers who came to the town hall. Traces of the village's existence date back to 1234. At an altitude of 170m, it is the link between the Othe forest and the Chaource forest.
The Mogne is a 1st category river, which rises in the middle of the village and flows into the Hozain at Isle-Aumont, after collecting its tributaries, the Séronne and the Ousse. The wash-house on the Mogne was built in 1852.
The school, dating back to 1843, now accommodates kindergarten children from the nine neighboring communes. The town hall occupies the former presbytery dating from 1848. The commune has laid out a tourist trail for summer walks, hiking and horse-riding.
A dynamic village, Crésantignes is home to craftsmen and professionals, 1 bar-tabac-restaurant, 6 associations providing services and events throughout the year and a socio-cultural hall. The oldest association is the fire department. The commune still has the advantage of a clique.
As part of the Pays d'Armance, Crésantignes has the advantage of a museum, "Le Passé Simple", created by the municipality in 2001. This municipal museum houses over 1,600 objects and utensils from the past. Open all year round by telephone call. The museum is run by a volunteer association.
