6th version: collections of the Troyes Museum of Modern Art
From 12 January to 29 August 2022
During its renovation, the Museum of Modern Art offers a selection of major works in its collections according to the seasons.
Three still lifes with bouquets welcome the visitor. Fauvist masterpieces by Braque, Friesz, Derain and Vlaminck are displayed alongside a selection of Cubist works.
This 6th version is an opportunity to discover the works through the prism of themes such as the portrait through various currents or the animal. Sometimes wild, sometimes man's faithful friend, the animal is the subject of many representations, whether in painting, sculpture or ceramics. Works by 19th and 20th century artists such as Degas, Mare, Bouche, etc. are thus brought into dialogue.
The decorative arts have a central place with glassworks by the donors' close friend Maurice Marinot and a renewed choice of animal-themed ceramics by Lebasque, Lepeltier, Metthey, etc.
The art of the 1950s and 1960s is represented with a dialogue between figuration and abstraction.
